Teton Valley Activities: Music on Main: This past week, the Teton Valley Foundation announced its Summer 2015 lineup. This summer also marks the incredible milestone of the 10th Anniversary.  The Teton Valley Foundation has reached a place where we can consistently book incredible bands because people WANT to play here despite our nonprofit budget.   It’s also because our talent booker Pete from Toasted Buffalo Productions  works his magic thanks to his deep industry connections and steadfast support of our mission.  The end result is that we will continue to host incredible bands. This season boasts one of our most diverse collections of music yet from Southern Rock, to Americana, to New Orleans Brass (with a twist of hiphop),…

Since 2000, Grand Targhee – arguably the most family-friendly ski resort in west has hosted the fun and exciting cardboard box derby on closing weekend. That was until now. This year, the derby will rake place on Saturday, April 11. Hopefully a bluebird day will be our backdrop. Lucky for snow enthusiasts, this will NOT be the closing weekend of the resort! Grand Targhee expects to stay…

Driggs, Idaho activities: The Great Snowfest of 2015. If you have the chance while visiting, you should really take a stroll downtotwn and marvel at the snow sculptures that will emerge from the pounded giant cubes that are being presently compacted. They will soon grace the front area of the Driggs Community Center.  The process is incredible. I mean… is it not accomplishment enough to just simply exist and stand out in cold weather? Then you have the crazy sportser people, the ones who are driven by the snow and whose eyes start to twinkle at the thought of playing in powdery…

Idaho backcountry skiing: Teton Canyon is the hidden gem. Except that is not really hidden. When you stay at  Teton Valley Cabins, you are only 5 miles from the trailhead whose parking lot has a hovering Grand Teton Peak looming overhead. The Teton Canyon trail is on U.S. Forest Service land. This trail is the first to be groomed in the fall and the last to be groomed in the spring. Teton Canyon is our most scenic trail, taking a gentle path up the valley directly towards the Grand Teton. This is a heavily used trail on the weekends and gets a…

Winter has come in like a lion!!!! Just six short days ago, I was vigorously planting fall bulbs in my flower beds, smiling as I knew I was just in time, meeting the deadline prior to the ground freezing. It is easy to reflect on our beautiful summer season by remembering all of the Teton Valley Wildflowers! With such a beautiful Fall, we have been lucky enough to spot several varieties even  into the month of September.  There are many species of native wildflowers that grow within a few miles of Teton Valley Cabins, and if you climb in elevation, such as on your way to or  during your time spent at Grand Targhee, you will find a series of other sets who like it more intense –  with tolerances of harsher  wind, temperatures, and sun!  The best times to see wildflowers at their peak…
