Ski and Snow Report for Grand Targhee Resort Ski and Snow Report for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort With easy access to both resort and backcountry skiing, the Valley is known worldwide for its legendary powder skiing. Grand Targhee, a great family resort just 11 miles to the east, has fantastic terrain for all ages and all abilities. Teton Pass, up the road from Victor, has great backcountry ski access, and the famous Jackson Hole Mountain Resort sits directly on the opposite side of the Tetons from Driggs and is well worth the 33 mile drive.  Grand Targhee Ski Resort Although only accessible from Idaho, Grand Targhee Ski and Summer Resort is located within the Caribou/Targhee National Forest in Wyoming. The resort is known among locals for receiving endless amounts of snowfall throughout the winter season, with an average of 500 inches per year. A fantastic family resort, Grand Targhee has a variety of terrain for those who are just learning, tree runs for intermediate skiers and boarders who are trying to improve their skills, a terrain park for "jibbers" and "huckers," and cliff areas for experts only. The resort has access to 2000 acres of skiable terrain which span over two mountains. Grand Targhee has been rated #2 for "snow," ranked within the top ten for "value," and ranked within the top 3 for best family resorts. Grand Targhee has an extensive snow sport school, a 15km course for cross country skiing, a tubing hill, snowmobiling trails, dog sledding, snowshoeing, and 1000 acres of skiing terrain reserved for Powder Cat Skiing.  Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Just by stepping foot on Jackson Hole Mountain Resort somehow makes you a better skier or snowboarder. The mentality of locals that line up three hours before opening, in addition to some of the country's most extreme terrain are just a fraction of what make this resort so desirable to some. Jackson has about 2500 acres of terrain to chose from. A few beginner runs, nicely groomed cruisers, endless powder fields, and a ton of chutes and drops. The resort also has a terrain park and a handful of back country access gates. From Teton Valley, Idaho you the drive to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is about one hour, 33 miles including the assent and descent of Teton Pass. |
